After my first few blog posts I began to realize that I hadn't quite explained what a "Prodigal Man" is. Taken from the story of the Prodigal Son, the Prodigal Men are those men in our church that need to run home to their heavenly Father and rediscover the protection, promise and prosperity He desires for their lives. You see I don't think men of the church should complain about the depravity of the world around them or in their own lives if they're not bought in to God's plan and promises for their lives. If the goal of this blog is to see men live victorious lives then we must debunk the lies they have believed from culture. God gave us His word in it's entirety and completeness with the answers of how we are to live as men. In turn His promises to prosper us are true and real. I believe there are countless thousands of men that the enemy has "stuck" in a cycle of frustration and paralysis. They sit in our churches weekly, lukewarm with one foot in the world and one foot with Christ. They are straddling the proverbial fence in their spiritual lives and stunting growth in their sanctification. And fellas, you want to experience God's presence and fulfillment in your life, embrace your sanctification and work at it! Going into God's word in humility daily and asking for His guidance to make you a better husband, father and leader at home is where you are to begin. I tell men that God has blessed me to mentor, fix your home life first! This isn't my brilliance, it is God's holy calling. God cares about your home and getting that right far more than anything else. You can be doing great works out in the community but be failing at home and be miserable. That's not God will! When I felt called to begin writing this blog God showed me that each week in church services around the United States, we have Prodigal Men sitting in the pews and seats and unfulfilling their great potential in God! They sit in either denial or quiet desperation. Dare I say that some men following Christ don’t have a worldly example of a man sold out to Christ and reaping the blessings of that obedience. Men must be inspired to see the goal and then be encouraged and given the tools they need to succeed. I truly believe most men are so confused by culture’s influence that the church needs to be a voice, pointing in love, to the lies they’ve believed, why they are wrong and replacing those with God’s promises through His word. Spiritual success is contagious because personal growth is contagious. Personal growth is contagious when centered in Christ because men love to win. At the men’s group at my church our moto is “Equipping Men to Win.” You want to see culture change, teach our men in the church to win. The first step in winning is calling the Prodigal Men home and being bold enough to back up God’s word and His promises for them. The bottom line is God’s promises for men work and cultures lies fail them every time. Are we as a Church bold enough to proclaim this truth? I hope so. Our culture and the future of America depends on it.
